動詞 "lead" 耳熟能詳，其意思為「引領」，字尾加表人的 "er"，則為名詞 "leader"，其意思為「領導人」，但 "lead" 當名詞使用時，亦可表金屬元素「鉛」，則鮮為人知。

字根為 plum = lead = 鉛
